Where is Napili Beach?
This less-crowded and serene resort beach located in Lahaina Town in West Maui enthralls visitors and locals alike with its tropical tranquility and amazing views.
Why Visit Napili Beach?
Napili Beach is a favorite destination with its inviting blue waters and soft sand. With a little shade and a lot of sand, this great beach is perfect for families or for couples looking for a romantic adventure. Located in sunny Kapalua Bay, it has a lot to offer including swimming where you can enjoy the sandy ocean bottom.
Sea turtles are often spotted in this less-commercialized area. When the surf is mild, snorkeling is a favorite activity because of the clear water, and there is a coral reef to explore. When the waves are a little more active, boogie boarding is a favorite way to spend some time. This beautiful stretch of sand is located in a small cove which provides protection from the wind.
More Things to Do
Beginning and ending on the beach, the Kapalua Coastal Trail is a two-mile walk along Maui’s northwest coast. As you hike, you’ll enjoy spectacular oceanfront scenery and dramatic lava rock formations. You will spot interesting wildlife including massive turtles and playful crabs. This must-do activity will become one of your favorite memories of Maui.
There are several restaurants and a general store in the resort, as well as a supermarket nearby, so you can walk up to a dining area right on the sandy beach, or prepare a picnic lunch. There are public showers and restrooms available for changing if needed.
Two favorite restaurants are the Gazebo and the Sea House. Enjoy the view as you dine at the Gazebo Restaurant, overlooking the bay. Known for their amazing breakfast menu and delicious fried rice, they offer both takeout and outdoor seating. The Sea House Restaurant is known for delicious food and a million-dollar view, and you can dine indoors or out. Enjoy a gorgeous West Maui sunset from your table.
For home-grown produce and more, visit the Napili Farmers Market on Wednesday mornings. You will find fresh garden fruits and vegetables including mango, pineapple, and bananas, as well as coffee, locally-grown herbs, macadamia nut products, kombucha, smoothies, and a variety of juices.
You can enjoy a performance by world-famous Hawaiian slack key guitarist and musician George Kahumoku Jr. in Napili on Wednesday and Thursday evenings. George Kahumoku Jr. is a Hawaiian native and Grammy award-winning artist.
Street parking is available near the beach but is limited, so your best bet is to arrive early in the day.
